If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

-- Anne Bradstreet (1612 - 1672)

Update: Due to popular demand, the full poem (by Anonymous) is:

Spring iz sprung
Da grass iz riz
I wonder where dem boidies iz
Da little boids iz on da wing
Ain't dat absoid
Da little wings iz on da little boid

Our poem, in elementary school went like this:

Spring is sprung.
The grass is riz.
I wonder where the flowers is.
And the boid is on the wing.
Now isn't that a funny thing?
I always thought the wing was on the boid!
